CEPIS and professional e-Competence
07/10/11 03:54 AM
 CEPIS

In September CEPIS presented a report  forming the first phase of the project about the e-competences of ICT professionals in Europe based on responses from almost 2000 IT professionals in 28 countries around wider Europe. The country reports examine the levels of competences, education, and much more and compare the national results to European averages.

Results from ten CEPIS member countries including Belgium, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Finland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Malta, Norway, Romania and Spain have now been published on the CEPIS website.

A European report to include an overall comparison of all respondents will be published soon.

The purpose of the research is to produce and assess an up-to-date picture of the actual digital competences of ICT professionals across Europe today, using the profiles recognised by the labour market and analysing them based on the European e-Competence Framework

When it comes to comparing the e-competences of male and female ICT professionals the report confirms that gender imbalences in IT still persist: only one out of 6 IT professionals are female in Europe.

There is an urgent need to encourage women to enter the IT profession and to ensure that the image of IT is attractive to both genders.
