Introduction

Next Girl DJ is a new Pan-European contest that aims to discover the hottest girl DJ around and propel her into dance music superstardom.

Audio giants JBL and sportswear aficionados ROXY are two credible brands synonymous with music and female culture, and are the brains behind this aspirational contest.

Next Girl DJ is not about slinging male talent to one side, but is about providing a space where girls can showcase their skills. More females are needed to exhibit their talent in what is, still, a male dominated environment.

Next Girl DJ is aiming to provide one girl a life-changing opportunity (see Prizes), whilst changing the face of dance music history in the process - in the recent DJ Top 100, not one woman was represented. Thanks to JBL, ROXY and You, all this is about to change.

So are you passionate, ambitious and know how to throw down some tunes? Then what are you waiting for?

From thousands of competitors in the Next Girl DJ contest only 20 will remain for the live finals, which will be running in Paris, London, Berlin and Brussels, throughout May. Watch this space for announcements.

Rules

  • How to join
Inclusion in Next Girl DJ requires you to be European and over 18. You need to submit a DJ mix that best represents your sound via Letsmix.com, using the mp3 upload function or Letsmix Editor. Only one 30 minute mix per Letsmix.com member may enter the contest. All styles of music are welcome!
  • What happens next
The contest will run online for two months and public voting will stop on April 22th: In this first stage the contestants will have to promote their mixes and obtain at least 50 votes to become a Girl DJ qualifier in their respective region.

Within the Girl DJ qualifiers the top ten mixes from each country, ranked by average voting score from stage one, will be handed over to the expert panel of judges, which boasts some of the industry's most influential women - Anja Schneider, Noura Labbani (Beatport), Caroline Hayes (Spun Out) and Fanny (kill the DJ). Five girls will be selected from each location and will be invited to travel to the live semi-finals taking place in Paris, London, Berlin and Brussels in May.

The Grand Final

This is when it gets exciting! The Grand Final will witness the four local country winners go back online to upload a 'beach' themed mix at nextgirldj.com. Through public and panel voting, one talented girl will be announced as they Next Girl DJ winner and go on to play their 'beach' themed mix at the Roxy Jam in Biarritz this July as well as swoop up an armful of serious prizes, full details under Prizes.
