Intellect, UK trade body has called for reform to the ICT curriculum in schools

On 20 January 2011 Michael Gove, the Secretary of State for Education, announced a review of the primary and secondary National Curriculum in England.In its response to the Department for Education review of the national curriculum Intellect, the trade body for the UK’s technology sector recommend that basic ICT skills, interactive and multimedia technology should be used across all lessons to encourage and develop better computer science skills and creativity.

On 16 September 2010, a company that develops Wi-Fi-based
Real Time Location Systems (RTLS) announced that it will provide the
psychiatric ward at the University Hospital of Innsbruck in Austria with
a Wi-Fi-based location tracking technology for an emergency call
system.The software-based RTLS solution has
been integrated into a personal emergency call system developed by a
provider of software solutions and services in health care for the
psychiatric unit, which encompasses two seven-story buildings and is
served by more than 200 employees.

broadband to the UK, claims one campaigner for universal access. ABI
Research last week published a report showing that the number of fixed
broadband subscribers globally totalled just under 449 million at the
end of the second quarter.
