This week, the City Monitor reveiled in its second edition the results of 2006. The City Monitor is an assignment of the Flemish government to the University of Gent, in order to improve the liveability of cities.

The Flemisch Community published in 2003 a white book on urban policy,The century of the city which inspires also cities as Kortrijk in their vision about the development of Kortrijk. It is the result of two years of work, which started with background analyses and discussions between academics, experts and other stakeholders.
Visit of Ministre of Culture to Kortrijk

At the end of October the Flemish minister of Culture visited various cultural initiatives in Kortrijk, such as the Buda Island, the museum 1302 that will be opened to the public next year and Community Centre Overleie. The project of the new library ( part of VISP ) was presented to him.

The Katholieke Universiteit Leuven Campus Kortrijk ( KULCK) continues and strengthens its exchanging programmes. This new contract will be signed at the opening ceremony of the new academic year on September 28th 2005.
WP 2 workshop at Kortrijk

Kortrijk invited the VISP partners to a workshop on WP 2 Integrated urban planning from the 27th until the 29th of September 2006. 20 delegates from abroad and 20 projectpartners from Kortrijk assisted to the thematic workshop.

The City of Kortrijk prepared a spatial structure plan for the city, in which the vision about spatial development in the long term is explained. It adresses how the city will develop green spaces, housing, the city centre, open spaces.
Mölndal visited Kortrijk

Kortrijk has got the honour to welcome a delegation of 18 visitors from the city of Mölndal. From Tuesday 11th until Friday 14th of October 2005, the 18 social and cultural workers, teachers and politicians had the opportunity to follow different presentations about city planning, culture, social economy, welfare, unemployment and cultural integration and Life Long Learning.
